Texas F.M. 2088: An Epic Tar Sands Pipeline Event
On October 15, 2012, the largest, to date, coordinated protest and action involving TransCanada's tar sands pipeline (Keystone XL or Gulf Coast Project; same thing) took place in Wood County, Texas, on Farm to Market Road 2088. The action/protest apparently involved some 50 individuals, some of whom held banners and signs, and who chanted and sang, while others actually risked arrest by moving into the nearby tree village to help resupply the tree-sitters stationed there. There were a reported eight arrests that day.
While the photographer was not alerted to the event before it began, some photos of the protest were captured and are shared below.
